Default 1st Gen ES owners with 18's......

alright, i got my 18's last summer and i love the way they look on my 92' ES. However, they rub really bad in the back whenever i take sharp turns or have people in the back. i've seen plenty of 1st gen ES's with 18's + up to a 1.8" drop. i'm definitely considering dropping my car, but wouldn't that just make the rubbing worse than it already is? my car has 172,000 miles on it with original struts. would buying new struts (i.e. Tokico) help my rubbing problem?

anybody that has any experience with the problems faced while dropping ES's with big rims please give me whatever advice you can. Thanks very much!

If your rubbing problems are as severe as you say, I'd try shaving or rolling the fenders and hoping that helps, otherwise you'll need new wheels with the correct offset. Lowering the car will probably make it worse, and new struts may help a little bit since the rear won't bounce and sag as much, but I wouldn't think this would make a huge difference. A strut tower brace will help a little with the rubbing when cornering since it'll reduce body roll, but this probably won' t make a huge difference either.

do a search i had a thread for people with larger rims to post sizes and offsets
so far 225 45 18 is the biggest tire and 42mm offest is the perfect no rub with drop
but see what you can find
? is it rubbing on the outer or inner fender wall
also what is your offset and tire size

I suggest 225/40ZR18 not 225/45ZR18. 45 series are a little too big.
