Hard CLUNK when shifting to R
Hey can anybody help? Car is a 96 lexus es300. When shifting from park to reverse I get a hard clunk. Also when shifting from drive to reverse I get a hard clunk. But when shifting from park or reverse into drive there's no clunk. There's only a clunk when I shift into reverse. Anybody help? Trans fluid looks good. Another clues?

Check motor mounts, its pretty common for the one under the oil filter to go bad and the dog bone one on the top to go bad. you can check by having someone shift through the gears while you look under the hood and see if the engine makes excessive movements when shifting.

Its most likely the rear engine mount, my car does the same thing. Its a bear to get to, having to remove a (most likely seized) passenger CV axle bearing.
