Default Bad ground somewhere or just bad luck?

On my 2001 es300, I replaced the a few hvac bulbs that were blown out, and the AC display bulbs went out somehow, and I understand that it happens.. but the 1 of the hvac bulbs went out again, its been maybe 2 weeks since I put it :/

just **** bad luck or should I be upgrading/updating a ground somewhere back there where the HVAC unit sits?

I havent done this job, but if they are the same bulbs, it wouldnt be a stretch that they are wearing out near the same time.

I had an '01 that almost ALL the rear lamps went out within about a week! Talk about almost identical lifespans!

If its one of the bulbs that you just changed, than it may have been just bad luck.

Did you get the bulbs from the Toyota/Lexus dealer?

I had a light that was driving me nuts in the HVAC. It was the one on the left side, it lights up the **** too. It was out. I took out the unit, replaced with a new bulb and put it back in. Still out. I tested the old bulb it was actually good. Took the unit out again, checked it by applying 12v to the light circuit, all the bulbs light up. Put it back in, left side is out again WTF!!!

I ended up taking the unit out again, and cleaning all the contacts, messing with the wires on the bulbs and swapping them around trying to figure what if anything, would cause the bulb to lose connection when installed, like screwing it to the brackets bends the faceplate slightly or something. In the end swapping bulbs around and cleaning the contacts with alcohol seems to have fixed it for now, so no conclusive answer for you other than don't rule out some funky issue like this if the bulb tests good...
