Default O2 Sensors

Should O2 sensors be considered maintenance items and replace at XYZ miles regardless if it is throwing a code?

My vote goes to no even though they do seem to have a finite lifespan.

I guess I'm just saying no because they are expensive and the car will still operate if they are bad.

I agree.

Besides his good points, I see dramatically different service life for equal OE units. Some might fail at 50k, others still working fine at 250K.

No. Replace them when they go bad.

I like replacing them when they go bad, because the computer is smart enough to monitor them and tell you when it's due.
