Yeah, just address the canister first and manly be taken a gander at three fuel lines, I never thought of that but I can see how it could be an issue.

Got the canister replaced a few days ago. Tick is still there as I expected it to be.

Man that is a noisy tick...my 2006 Es I just purchased has the tick at idle as well. Already driving me nuts. I would rather be missing my drivers door in its entirety than hear a darn ticking sound from an engine that is as smooth as a sewing machine

Yea I hate it, but I have learned to live with it. Just gonna run it until it doesn't run anymore.

Is there any threads on here with any ideas? Maybe a Lucas additive or heavier weight oil?

I was thinking along the lines of a higher viscosity oil as well. I have tried Marvel Mystery Oil in the crankcase and found it to be slightly helpful but the tick is still present albeit diminished at idle.

As an aside pearl93, how does that road master estate ride? I love those things, last of the truly massive land yachts.

Jetson thanks for the tip... The roadmaster estate....oh boy where do I begin...lol. It actually rides pretty well. It does porpoise somewhat on the interstate. But you can drive 80-85 with one finger on the wheel so it doesn't wander all over the road which is Nice. Problem is when you go over rough spots on the freeway or hit any big bumps the whole car rattles and shakes due to 23year-old GM quality..haha. I got the car from a great aunt via California so it's dry and rust free. She maintained it with an open checkbook up until I bought it in January. She let me have it for $500. Heck she put a new reman engine in it 6000 miles ago! Cost $3100! It has not had a garage since 2006 so the white paint is checking and chipping. The wood grain was replaced once but all the molding and trim has peeled and come off. I just put a new set of black wall kumho s on it so it looks great from 20 feet. Too bad it's not the LT1 derived v8 offered yrs 94-96. Those cars had lots of power and actually got great fuel economy for a 4800 pound wagon. My Buick 350 is a little underpowered but very drive able. Fuel economy SUCKS however....anyway. More than you ever wanted to know! Lol.

I want one, badly. With an ls1 swapped.in would be nice. But man, they look good lowered on some torq-thrust style wheels. There is just something about them that I like. I also have a thing for the Oldsmobile custom cruisers with the glass roof panels. I guess it's just nostalgia from the days before minivans and suv's ruled the road, back then it was all wagons so now when I see one I get all wistful for the days of rear facing seats.

Yep! They do bring back the memories! Mine has the vista roof too but get this....the dealer installed an aftermarket ASC moonroof on mine along with a new lower height headliner that covers up the vista roof from the cabin! Totally sucks! The vista roof is there but you can't look out it! Wish I could undo all that but there is no way with the moon roofs mechanicals there. Hell the moonroof doesn't even work anymore and it leaks . So I had to seal her up. Booooooo

Oh man, that sucks! The Vista roof is a big deal for me, so ahead of its time. Well, it is what it is and at least you have one to enjoy. I can only have one in my fantasy garage at the moment as my wife does not find them appealing in the least.

Get a quart of engine flush, put it in the crankcase and idle for 5 minutes. Drain oil, add oil LESS ONE QUART - get a quart of Marvel Mystery Oil and put it in the crankcase. That SHOULD take care of it unless it is mechanical.

I have these supplies but am hesitant about the flush. May do it on the next change. What are your thoughts on higher viscosity oils?

I don't want to knock something loose and end up clogging a passage or.something. I am just paranoid.

Instead of marvel mystery oil, how bout the Lucas engine additive? I have always had mechanics and parts stores singing their praises. I actually bought a big bottle. My car was just serviced of course since I bought it from Lexus dealer..oil so clean! Lol. My Es actually has every service on carfax and stamped in maintenance log. The engine is dead silent except for that soft tick at idle. With the excellent service it's had it should not make a peep! I am also finding with the mood swings with the weather here in ga. It's seems quieter with this warm,humid, wet weather.. Maybe my ears are foggy
