It justed started a few days ago. Fluid was changed with proper type about 8,000 miles ago. Cane back from vacation and it started. It has 159k on it and I bought it from orig owner with all service records from day one. Local shop said that it is the tranny. They also said customers have driven them at times for a couple years without repair. Car shifts smooth with no other issues other than what has been noted in the forums as the surging under light acceleration. Is it done for or could it be something else? No cel light yet. No battery issues. Help?

It could be something else. Does it buzz (whine) at certain speed but not always (usually whines and then goes away after it shifts)? 1-2, 2-3, etc? Since you do not notice any slip while shifting, you have ways to go. In my honda, I was able to use with slippage and whine for over 2 years before I decided to change tranny. Just do regular 1x atf drain-fill about every other engine oil change and you will be fine.
