Default Transmission

i have a 1995 Es300 that vet had since 1996. It has 154.643 miles on it. Recently I've been having issues with the transmission not going into overdrive. I had the fluid and filter changed and it worked properly for a coup,e of weeks. Then the CEL came on and it was the P0401 EGR code. Now the transmission won't shift not overdrive. Would the EGR code cause the transmission not to go into overdrive? If not, what else could cause it?

Yes it could.
Many engine lights could trigger the ECU to disable OD, traction control and stability control.
Clean your EGR valve and go from there.

Just a follow up on the tranny issue I was having. The egr was okay, but when I was checking it I found a vacuum hose was split. Replaced the hose, reset the ECU, and took it out for a test drive. It shifted good through the gears and went into OD. It has been working since I replaced the hose. Thanks speedkar9 for your response.

Thank you for taking the time to both follow up, and validate what Speedkar9 said. It is not only polite, but helpful to the forum.

yes, thank you. I've been having brake booster problems and my 2000 es has not been going into OD. Hopefully this will be a fix for me as well.
