Default Front Passenger Door not closing right...

This happened earlier...I tried to close it and it wouldnt shut. Gave it a harder close and still wouldnt secure in there. It finally somewhat secured in but wasnt pushed all the way in. I had to give it a hard push with my body to get it in all the way like normal. Anyone had this happen? Im guessing the little switch on the door that locks onto the metal bar on the car isnt turning like its supposed to

Oh geez,

Slamming it harder is not always the best solution, you may have damaged it further.

Check the locking mechanism with a screw driver to mimic the door jam. If good. Check the door jam to see if it is loose or have moved. Check the other side to see how it should mirror the side with the issue.

Ours did not close because jam moved due to son keep over slamming the damn door. :-/

My son likes to press things harder thinking he can make the basturd work, only to have broken the switches and dials. Just my 2 cents.

This happened again today. I had to hold the door handle up in the open position from the outside and push the door in a few times. It eventually went back in and closed but still. What the hell.

I wonder if the latch on the door that locks onto the metal ring is dry and stuck. Maybe I need to put some lubrication or spray? Like the spray we put near the pedals to get our steering wheels to stop squeaking.

Spray some silicon based or Lithium lube on the mechanism. Do not put WD40. I would also shoot some in the key hole for safe measure and your hinges. I bet those have not been lubed in a long time.

The door did it again today but I sprayed silicone spray all over the little door latch. I hope it soaking in that fixes it.

I'd use some spray on light grease. Also make sure the rotating lever that grabs the post in the door sill is opening all the way when you open the door. I've seen that happen.
