Default Timing Belt Noise on New Belt?

My '99 had a timing belt job done at 12x,xxx and now it has 144,xxx and I'm noticing a loud ticking noise coming from somewhere on the passenger side of the engine, close to the timing belt cover. This is weird. Anyone else have this? It's quite loud with the hood up, but not that bad with the hood down. Car runs perfect.

I wouldn't be that concerned, the noise on mine seems to change with the weather (humidity, etc.) I can always quiet it down with some belt dressing spray if it gets a little noisy, especially after sitting idle for a couple days. It will be quieter with the hood down because of the insulation and such.

Loud ticking noise is not normal. You should have it checked out by the mechanic who did your timing belt.

Don't confused belt noise and ticking noise. They are 2 different things.

If its bearing noise it could be a tensioner, idler or waterpump bearing. Did you change all pulleys or just the belt?
