The brightest possible halogen bulbs are the Sylvania SilverStar Ultra's I would say. They don't seem to have the same life expectancy as other bulbs, but are definitely worth it if you are still rocking halogens and want a crisp and bright look on the road.

Sylvania recently lost a class action lawsuit for the false claims they made regarding, amongst others, the brightness of those bulbs, as well as some other false claims of the benefits of their bulbs compared to their competitors.(Do a Google search)

Personally, I would stick to the original bulbs that came with the car.

I've got some sylvania bulbs in there right now that the previous owner put in.
they are bluish and not very bright...
I know that headlight bulbs can lose their brightness without dying completely over time and I believe that is what happened to mine.
they seem to have lost 30% of their brightness since they were installed (spoke to the previous owner via text and they told me they haven't had to change the headlights in 2 years).

So at this point I am just looking for a safer, brighter headlight for my vehicle.
sylvania silverstar ultra is what i've been looking at mostly.

As I suggested to you in my original reply, do a Google search on "Sylvania class action suit". I think you'll change your mind about buying those bulbs.

Stick to the original bulbs that came with your car. Can't go wrong with them.

Read this review from Consumer Reports on Halogen Bulbs.

http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/m...ulbs/index.htm

However, as I said avoid the Sylvanias. Otherwise as per Consumer Reports, they're all about the same, so go by price if you wish.

Osram Night Breakers Plus, Not cheap but it is the brightest standard bulb and throws a complete light with out dead spots.

Next would be a HID kit or even the LED.

eBay LED kit $42

not very helpful in my decision, thanks for the info about Sylvania, I don't deal with headlight bulbs like these since the last 2 vehicles I've owned i installed HIDs in.

can't do much with the information people have provided thust far in this thread, although I do appreciate it.

Lol, I am just going from personal experience of trying about every bulb brand in the past on my father's Honda Civic. They were by far the best, but they did not last more than a year. Consumer reports and reviews are usually extremely biased and/or false in the auto industry by the way.
