Cool Android Head Unit 1999 ES300

I have been considering putting an Android head unit in my 1999 Lexus ES300. Does anyone know if it will be compatible and if it will fit?

[QUOTE=jaa228;8992160]I have been considering putting an Android head unit in my 1999 Lexus ES300. Does anyone know if it will be compatible and if it will fit?

Now that's a good idea! Sorry I can't say if it will work but that sounds like just what the Dr ordered for my car as I've had this great big hole where the stereo usually goes due to previous owner making a mess of it and I'd not got around to sorting it out...

I'm hate watching stuff on my little iphone 4S screen while sitting in the car waiting for the Mrs to do stuff... I think this requires further investigation....

Does anyone know if you can get a 2 DIN stereo / headunit / screen surround kit for ES300s of the 1990's?? The sort to just give it a tidy / finish...

I'm going to try it so I will post with the results.

You can get a 2 DIN dashkit and a harness from BestBuy. Make sure to call/visit them first, they will tell you the correct ones to buy.

These are the ones I need for my 1999 ES300
Dashkit - http://www.bestbuy.com/site/metra-in...&skuId=1582711
Harness - http://www.bestbuy.com/site/metra-tu...&skuId=4642505

That harness will probably work on yours but you will probably need this dashkit: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/metra-in...&skuId=1582499

Yeah that's exactly the dash kit I need, thanks!

I was going to pay $50 for a single din kit locally, so I think I'll get that kit and suss out a harness then do some research on android headunits...

I received the unit today and had it installed. So far first impressions are awesome. I have installed Chrome, TVMC, Pandora and Team Viewer. I can now watch movies and TV shows, listen to Pandora, and Remote access my desktop. I tested Bluetooth and it works great. I tested nav and the maps are pretty good. Tons of voices to choose from. The unit is pretty fast and smooth. I still want to add Netflix, San Andreas, and *******. I haven't tested the DVD/CD player yet. The unit came with a wifi dongle that started working as soon as I plugged it in. I connected it to my phone's hotspot. The sound quality is decent but its not quite as good as the Lexus Premium Sound, although I haven't messed with the equalizer enough. So far I'm pretty impressed, can't wait to use it more.

That's good to hear.
Where did you buy the Android head unit?
