Hi im getting my grandfathers 1998 ES300 at the end of this month. I first started out in a 2002 SAAB 9-5 which quit working the 3rd day after i got it. The lexus only has 75k on it. What are the most common problems in these cars and are they reliable?

Very reliable cars. Has the timing belt been changed? Only real issues are oil leaks (valve covers, oil pan) and suspension clunks. Make sure the oil was changed very frequently as these engines can develop a sludge problem if the oil wasn't changed on the correct interval.
