Default Help. 1998 ES300 flooding out

Hello. ES300 wont start. Plugs are fouling out to the point when pulled are all wet. Checked fuel pump, fuel pressure, have 12v going to coils, haven't checked injectors yet not sure how to check coils. Igniter? All 6 cylinders fouling with gas. Any help is appreciated...

Are you sure it's gas on the spark plugs and not oil? When you say it doesn't start does it at least crank over? Do it run for a few seconds and then stall?

With such symptoms, there should be some trouble codes in memory. You need to retrieve them.

You probably have no spark for some reason (check the truble codes), and by now your sparkplugs, are probably fouled to the point where they won't work. So need to be cleaned and dried.

A possibilie cause could be a bad load of fuel or water in the fuel. Did you fill it up recently?

Car does turn over and its definitely gas. I tried starting it. Wouldn't start. Pulled plugs, All fouled. Cleaned them. reinstalled. Cranked car over and itll run for like 5 seconds and quit. Pull the plugs again and they are all gas fouled. As for retrieving codes doesn't car have to be running using an OBD11 ? Not bad fuel or water..Tank was empty..Its got fresh gas in it....Yes this is driving me nuts...LOL I agree spark issue but all 3 coil packs? I did check and its got power to the packs...

The engine does not need to be running to be able to retrieve codes that are stored in memory.

All one has to do is connect a Code reader or scanner and turn the ignition on.

This should be your FIRST step.

Disconnect the battery, overnight.

- the symptoms you describe sound like the injectors are dumping alot of fuel into the engine and that is causing the engine to stop.

- faulty MAF ? / AFM
- faulty Air/Fuel sensors
- Over pressure'd fuel ?
- bad o2 sensors ?

- there will be codes in the memory to say something.

Ok, after a lengthy hiatus from working on this car I have done the following. Originally car wouldn't start and was fouling really bad.. Ive changed the fuel pump, map sensor, coils, wires, plugs, fuel injectors, temp sending now I can get the car to at least start BUT now I have CEL coming on with random misfire codes and 3 of the cylinders misfiring. Once again im at a loss...Can the igniter be a culprit? Does this engine have a VVT? Thanks

That will forever be the mystery. Why did they bend. All I know is I found them after doing a compression test . All cylinders read 210..This one of course 0....The 3 valves were in the stuck open position...Car has 210k miles on it. Got the head work done. Got it all back together and it started right up....
