Rolled/Shaved fenders...anyone got 'em?
lobo and lexpusher96 both modified their fenders to prevent rubbing.
I was wondering if this can be done by ourselves....I remember something about placing a baseball bat between the fender and the tire, allowing the car to roll, which sould result in wearing away a lip that protrudes that causes rubbing...(1 long run-on sentence.. lol..am i making any sense?- )
I got hooked up with some 18x8.5s but want to eliminate all potencial rubbing tendencies because I ride quite a bit with people in the backseat.
-thanks-

The DIY fender rolling involved putting the bat in like you said and gently pushing down, smashing the back edge of the fender lip up. I wouldn't recommend this, there's a chance of creasing your fender, and I'm not sure how friendly the ES is to fender rolling, some cars can't be done well or easily. The other option would be to have the back edge of that lip shaved. I'd take it to a shop and see what they recommend, I don't think it'll cost an unreasonable amount to have it done professionally and know it's done right.
Do a search in the GS forums, I think I remember a thread where someone with a white GS rolled their own fenders a while back and posted pics, take a look at it and see what it's all about. If I remember right it looked kinda rough, I think a professional job would look nicer.

There is no way 18'' 8.5 is gonna fit in the rear without massive rubbing. I have 18'' by 7.5 and those used to rub hard core. I had to go extreme. Not just rolling the fender. I had to have the entire innerfender line removed. I have now gone to 18'' by 8 and they still dont fit even with the fender modification. 18'' by 8.5 is gonna requre external wide body fender flares to fit.

have you put the 18 x 8.5 on yet. I also have a deal on 8.5 s and dont want any rubbing if possible. if you have them on now how bad is it rubbing. let me know how it comes out.

Yes, professional work would be best in fender mods. My local tuner is charging $40, which isn't too bad for piece of mind.
Ghetto-Pimp has 18x8.5 dropped on Eibachs, we should ask him how it's been riding. I know for sure he said it was rubbing when the backseat was loaded down on fast turns.
I have found many rims available in 18x8 and 18x8.5. Which reputable wheelmakers make them in 18x7.5?

I dont have the same car but I just had my fenders rolled. The inner liner inside was cut like in to 5 slots going up from the fender then they rolled it out . (The attachment bolts on to the wheel hub) then the lip that flared in wards was removed. After that they sealed the inside liner back to the fender. it looks great.

Sorry I dont have any photos.
Rolling out the fenders or adding fender flares is one of the first mods japanese do before getting wheels. I like the stock look so I went with rolling out the fenders.
