I just had both front door handles break on me the past week, this was a florida car so i guess the heat got to them.

I wondering f the 97 camry is the same door handle as the es300, when i look at them online it seems like the camry has an extra plastic piece attached that the lexus doesnt.

I figure someone out there has had to replace these handles before and knows if the camry will work, thanks for any info

Are you talking about the interior or exterior door handles? The interior ones, maybe... The exterior handles, I doubt it. Did the actual handles break or one of the components in the door? Your best bet might be to source the parts out at junkyard or EBay.

the exterior handles, the actual handle broke off of both front doors, dry rotten plastic from florida sun. I have read that they break often in florida cars and not uncommon. i have been looking around and the camry handles are being sold same as the lexus es300 handles. same part number from some companies selling them but want to be sure the camry handle will fit. looks exactly the same now from looking at some rear pics of the handles so i think they will work but want to be 100%

The easiest way to establish compatibility is to look up the OEM part numbers. The part number will vary slightly based on the paint code.

Cross-referencing the part number for the 97 Lexus ES300's door handle (6921033040D1 for a Magenta color) shows its compatible with 1997-1999 Camry's.
