Default Looking at ES300 with 148,000 miles on it

Is it worth it. What are some problems that can occur with this type of miles. Can I get an extended warranty with this many miles from a private seller?
BTW, it is a '96

common problems include leaking seals, eg rear main seal, valve cover seal, cam seals, etc. Also the tranny can go bad. The led lights on the guages might be burnt out.

Welcome to ClubLexus! Here are some of my questions to ask you so more info can be gathered:

- How many owners has the ES been through?
- Are the majority of the miles highway, city, or mixed?
- Detailed vehicle history? (more detailed, the better)
- Any hits and/or accidents this ES took?
- Lastly, what is the asking price of the ES?

As far as the outlook of the car in its current mileage and unknown condition, I would be more wary of the engine and tranny life, and how well they were maintained. Not only regular oil changes are good for the car, but also coolant flush service, tranny oil change, power steering fluid change, brake fluid change, air and A/C filter changes, etc. etc. I'm sure other fellow CL members here will contribute some beneficial advice; this is an excellent forum

It would be smart to run a Carfax check on it just in case...for piece of mind of course.
