Smile 2003 Es300 rear end growl

My 2003 ES300 with 104,000 miles and has been pampered. I am hearing a growling sound, which seems to be coming from the rear of the car. I suspect the rear wheel bearings and am considering changing both rear hub assemblies. Does anyone have any advice on this?

Check brake calipers, might be locked up. My 02 ES did this, had rotors and calipers replaced. Car has 138000 miles, great car.

A growling sound would most likely be a bad wheel bearing, but I agree you need to check the calipers. 104,000 miles is a little early for hub bearings going bad.

If your replacing the hub assemblies, go with Lexus OEM hubs .

Timken hub assemblies if going aftermarket.

I just had the car serviced and the tech could not detect any problem. There is no play in the hubs and the calipers are good. Perhaps I am overly sensitive.
