Help with idle please.
So this is actually my moms car but I am currently trying to fix it for her.
She was having issues starting the car, from what she told me it would start but would not stay on. I adjusted the screw attached to the throttle and now the car seems to be back to normal. But my question is what caused it to happen in the first place?
Also the way I rigged it doesn't look "right" to me, but she needs the car for work and everyday life.
Any help would be appreciated.
Also I saw a wet spot above the headers and believe the valve cover gasket may be leaking, there is also a lot of crud build up right under the valve cove gasket.
I will be attaching photos.
Thanks!

Adjusting the throttle is not a good idea in the long run. What your issue sounds like is a clogged Idle Air Control Valve, which is extremely common on the 3ES platform. See if you clean it out with some Carb Cleaner, there should be a video or two on YouTube about it.
Leaky valve covers is very common as well. Your rear valve cover must be leaking as well. If you're interested in fixing that issue, there is an excellent thread on here with a video guide, made by speedkarr. Good luck.
