'02 AVS option and lowering springs?
Anyone out there with an '02 or '03, or anyone in the know, w/ the AVS option know if it's possible to put lowering springs on this car?
I want to get some larger rims, but also don't want the gap from the stock suspension. I'm really leary about messing w/ the suspension though w/ the whole AVS thing controlling it.
What do you guys think?

ask jobindj, he has an '02 with some really awesome looking 18" rims and no suspension mod. It looks totally cool.
I have the some concern, so I don't think I will be mod-ing the suspension either for the same AVS reasons. Rims and tires are slated for this spring.

Ya, I've seen his car, looks pretty nice. I seem to recall that he didn't have a NAV, so I just assumed he didn't have AVS too.
What wheel/tire setup you thinking of?

I think I have to retract.....I fell in my alphabet soup.
I have the ABS (Anti-Lock Brakes) and VSC (Vehicle Skid Control) but not the EMS (Electronic Modulated Suspension). What is AVS?
As for the wheels/tires.
Definately chrome wheels and good rubber (High end Eagles, Michs or Pirelli's) Has to be good in rain, too.
Either 17s with 205/55-17 or 18s with 225/45-18.
That may have to wait, now. I did my taxes and what I get back will just about cover my excise for 2003.
I forgot about the excise.

Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS):
AVS is a computer-controlled system that continuously adjusts shock-absorber damping rates to help provide appropriate ride comfort and handling precision. Sensors monitor wheel speed, engine rpm, steering-wheel movement, brake application and vertical body motion to determine the ideal damping rate for each shock. The driver also has a console switch to select among four damping-firmness programs, from Sport to Comfort.

I'm sure you'd be saying bye-bye to that part of your warranty if you modded the suspension. I wouldn't do it unless Lexus performed the work and took responsibility- which they probably wouldn't touch.
