Worked great, Used lithium grease and a golf tee to push it down in. First time i didn't get it down in the rubber boot enough.

My 99 es300 and my daughter's 02 Highlander have the exact same squeaky steering wheel. I'll be hitting that gasket with silicone the next time I'm in "garage mode." Thanks!!

BTW, WD-40 is NOT A LUBRICANT!! It is essentially deodorized kerosene. It's a great water dispersant (duh!), and a great cleaner (dissolves grease), but when it dries, it leaves virtually no lubricant film. It's fine on locks, and will keep them from freezing up in the winter, but don't use it as "oil." Bike chains will rust. Bolts will seize. Bad things will happen to rubber & plastic...

I wish more people would realize this. It's great for its intended purpose but stinks in pretty much any other applications.

I bought the cheapest silicone spray from the auto parts store and sprayed to much all around the area. Squeak is completely gone and it seems like the wheel turns a lot easier.

That spray works wonders on almost all the rubber parts on your car. I just applied some to the window frames after I got the rear windows unstuck.

I would agree. I use it on door jams every once and a while to prevent doors from freezing in the winter. Oh and don't forget the trunk

Do you apply it to the rubber with a microfiber rag or how?

Yes I spray it on the microfiber rag then wipe it on there. Don't use one that you aren't willing to throw away though because it'll turn black from the rubber.

Default Yep - silicone spray!

I hadn't seen this golf tee suggestion, but using a tube of thicker silicone grease that I had on hand, I dabbed it all around the rubber boot and tried to push it down between the rubber boot and the steering shaft with a plastic toothpick, but the squeak persisted... I then bought a spray can of silicone lubricant and that immediately did the trick!
