Gave the ES300 to my mom....isn't that sweet of me?
First a little background info: I've been driving the ES300 for almost 2 years now. It used to be my mom's car and when I turned 16 she passed it down to me. Well, lately she's been talking about how much she likes the car and how it was the best car she ever had. Soooo, being the good son I am, I gave it back to her and bought myself a '96 Audi A6 Quattro earlier this week. I've always loved Audis and when I saw this one for sale locally, I jumped on it. The Quattro is awesome in the snow. I also have an old, beat-up Porsche that I will continue to use as a daily driver.
I'll still be driving the ES300 quite often (1-2 times/week) but its no longer 'my' car and I won't be seeing it as often. I'm definately still hanging out at this board though.....you people rock.

lol that's great to hear, nabeel.
it's always nice to give somethin back to your parents, since they worked to give you the things you need/want.
how's the performance on the A6? how much hp does it have? i haven't followed Audi much... as you can probably tell.

What a good son!
I like that you are staying. your input is beneficial, I for one have learned much from your posts.
When I was looking for cars, I did test drive the Audi Allroad. I liked the car alot, just a little out of my price range. And I am not quite ready to go back to a station wagon...turbo or not. I not done playing yet.
how many miles on the A6 and what color is it?
steviej

Thanks guys. The Audi is black/black and loaded with all the options available that year (heated seats, Bose stereo, moonroof, etc.) Compared to the ES300, it is a lot slower. It's a heavy car and until '98 they had to make do with only 172hp from its 2.8 liter V6. 3650lbs + 172hp + AWD = slow car. The 0-60 time is about 9.5 seconds. Interestingly, once at speed- say on the highway- the car feels a lot more responsive. It can easily hit the 130mph speed limiter. Don't ask me how I know . Handling feels a lot better than the ES300 and the car has a very solid aura that I like. Plus I've been having a lot of fun in the snow this past week, pretending to be a rally car driver.
Right now it has 74K miles on it, and I got a really good deal on it- I think. NADA retail is $13,XXX and trade in is $11,XXX. I picked it up for $8K. Being a typical broke college student, even this represents a large sum of money to me.
BTW- my mom puts like 3K miles/year on her car. So it looks like the ES300 will stay in the family for a looong time, since it has 75K miles now and lots of life left. Later on this year, we'll be celebrating the 10th anniversary of purchasing it.
Oh, and one more thing- I am probably not done with ES300s yet. If I happen to find a '92-'93 5-speed ES300 in good condition with low miles (<100K), then there is a good chance that the Audi will be sitting outside the house with a 'for sale' sign on it.
