Default HID kit questions

I have a 2005 lexus es330 that came with halogen bulbs. I am looking to upgrade to a hid kit. I looked in the manual and did not see the bulb size used for the Low-beams. Can someone give me some advice on a good kit for this car.

EDIT: I bought the h11 HID kensun kit from amazon and IMO they look great.

The low beams should be H11s if I recall correctly. As for kit you have a lot of choices out there and the site I've used so far was http://www.xenondepot.com/ because you get a discount for mentioning club lexus at check out through a code. I bought volt hid kit for my fog lights and have been extremely pleased with the results. As for the low beams, mine are just stock HID. Hope this information helps.

Here's a site to determine all your bulb needs:
https://www.sylvania.com/en-us/appli...n.aspx#fldYear

I recommend looking into this brand called "Kensun" sold on Amazon. It might not be commonly used by other members, but I have bought about 5 different HIDs (for different cars) from them which were pretty accurate with their colors. They also have the best policy for returns and exchanges with a 2 year warranty for the kits.

DDM tuning is a GREAT place to buy HID kits from.

I'm interested in an HID solution for my 2004 es330, but don't want to get a "kit". Has anyone taken the factory hid headlight assemblies and swapped them into a halogen car? Are the ballasts for the factory hid equipped cars on or near the headlight housings?

I am in the exact same position as you, with an 05 with halogen projectors.

Don't waste your money on an HID kit.

I've put in a PnP H11 kit, and the light output is worse than stock. Most of the light gets cut off by the cut-off shield so its not nearly as bright as the halogen. I even drove around for weeks with one HID and one halogen, and all you could see is the halogen bulb reflecting off the road and other vehicles. It gets even worse when raining or snowing.

I think Megafast swapped in HID projector headlights on his ES300. Its going to be an expensive upgrade.

Thats exactly why I don't want a pnp "kit"". Halogen projectors aren't designed for HIDs nor are the lenses. I had a PnP kit on my old 2003 mazda6 and it was awful. Good color, bright light, but scattered and littered with hot spots. I ended up spending close to $1000 having them retrofitted with infiniti FX projectors, Acura TSX lenses and an Osram HID kit. They were bixenon and I also still had the factory brights still hooked up, so when the brights were on they were extremely bright! Just bought this Lexus and can and will go that route again, just wondered how much work is involved in making the factory HID lighting assembly work in my halogen equipped 2004 car.

*To the OP sorry for thread jacking.
