96 ES 300, Front wheel bearings.
I started to notice a whining or humning sound coming from, what seemed like my tires. It started to get louder. Had the car jacked up saw that the tire had about a half inch of play. Took the tire off, we tightened up the nut ( i think is what its called) that was in the middle of the rotor. It was really loose. I drive the car, and now I have a new noise, but now its a popping sound, when i turned the wheel at all. Finally determined it was the wheel bearings. Replaced them and now the sound is gone for the most part. But I still hear the noise, except it is not consistant, only a few times while driving. The person who put it in said the wheel bearing are "settling" in. Im not too sure that sounds right to me. But if anyone has any ideas that would be great. The cv boots and axles look fine they were recently replaced. It was suggested by someone that the wheel bearings were not put in properly and that is why there is noise.
