Your right. I don't think the silver cap is any indication of whether you have HID's.
It must just be the yellow sticker.

Hey coffee4000, have you confirmed that yours is HID? Also what does that yellow sticker say? High voltage? I'm gonna take a peak at my ride tonight and look for that.

Hi Druvius. I still haven't removed the bulb to check whether it is a HID bulb. I originally needed to know because I planned to buy new head lamps. There are head lamps for non HIDS's and head lamps for HID's. Most of the head lamps for HID's are the projector ones . . . not the ones I have.

I am suprised at the cost of the head lamps. I have been seeing $180 for just one of the non-projector HID head lamps.

My yellow sticker says "high voltage". I wonder how high the voltage is.
I'll remove it soon and post back.

Let me know what you find.

I believe initially when you turn HIDs on there is a brief moment when it spikes up to like 15,000 volts, however, it'll drop down after a split second to around like 70-90 volts there after.

I can now see the reason for the yellow "high voltage" sticker.
But do I have to do anything special to remove the HID bulb ?
I'm assuming that the voltage is zero when the ignition is in the "off" position.
People must change these bulbs all the time with no issues.
But there is a "high voltage" sticker for some reason.

Ahhh okay. Yes the yellow "high voltage" is definitely HID. And yes, these bulbs are ultra pricey. The advantage is that they last 12 years evidently. Personally I would only replace them if and when they burn out. I mean the car is 10 years old... you gotta let some stuff go.

I would also love to have the projector lamps but I'll wait until I upgrade!

Default Yellow "High Voltage" sticker

So I took pics of the "high voltage" yellow stickers on the side of the housings to show everyone what they look like (not sure how that one poster saw them in Coffee4000's pics. Once again, these do indicate them being HIDs because only HIDs are high voltage and a professional is recommended for their replacement (as the sticker says).

However I'm sure people on this forum have done it themselves. Anyone want to talk about that experience? I hear that they almost never burn out and ppl change them mainly cause the color changes and intensity diminishes.
