Default Wife drove 15 miles on highway w/ parking brake on

My wife's car is a 2006 ES330. About a week ago, I had 4 new Michelin tires installed and front break pads replaced.

My wife drove the car on a highway with the parking brake on for 15 minutes or so. She didn't smell any burning odor. Nor did she hear an abnormal sound.

I test-drove it and didn't detect anything abnormal. The car runs well.

So should I bring the car to a dealership? I am afraid that the dealership in my area would take advantage and try to make a nice profit even if nothing was wrong.

The only issue you might have is your rear brake rotors could have been damaged due to excessive heat. If you don't notice anything unusual, then ignore it until you have to replace your rear brake pads.

Park the car on a slight hill, set the brake tight, and put the trans in Neutral. If the car doesn't move, fugedabowdit. If the car rolls, well you're probably gonna need the shoes inside the rotor "hat" replaced. There's also some adjustment in the cable, I think it's underneath.

I'd pull rear brake rotors off and have them inspected as well as parking brake pads.

Do what KLF said. If the car rolls, try the cable adjustment first before attempting to replace the parking brake shoes. It is not very easy to change shoes. Heavy springs and tight quarters.

You don't have to do it on a slight hill. Just put into drive or reverse....

I'd expect that from a trashy place like Jiffy Lube or Brake check, but Lexus dealerships are usually good about not doing this.

What? Dealers do it all the time. Their markup on parts is ridiculous and so are their labor rates.

I bet it was out of adjustment and not much damage done. still getting a look yourself or taking it in for look and adjustment seems smart. my 05 wont move when e-brake is on.
