Default Over heating problem

I have a 96 Lexus es 300. It sat for 6 months before I got it. I changed all the fluids and it ran great. But I started to notice a over heating problem. When I was driving it was fine it stayed at temp. When I would stop for to long the temp would begin to over heat. I just replace the thermostat and it still happening. I noticed when the fan kicks on its making a noise it also doesn't seem to be running as fast as it should. Help please.

Maybe your fan is faulty. Or maybe your radiator is no good. Or maybe you have air in the line.

Pop the hood and start up the car. Wait for the fan to come on and see if it's running at proper speed and make sure the shroud is on. If that's all good next thing would be to get an infrared thermometer and look for cool spots in the radiator as that would indicate blockage. You aren't getting enough air flow or possibly enough coolant movement, it could be the waterpump but I'd check these other things first.

The fan would be the best guess at this point since you have no issue while driving. You can put your hand down behind the fan when it's running, it should be moving a lot of air. What kind of noise is it making?
