99 Lexus Won't Start After Puddle
My 1999 Lexus ES 300 wont start after driving through deep puddle today. I was driving and it started raining extremely hard. I came up a road and all of a sudden I was in a puddle and the car died. I pushed the card out of the puddle and the water was up to my knees. It did not look this bad when I came to the spot in the road. So the car will not start. I turn the key and only hear a very loud click. I tried to have it jumped before I towed it and nothing still. The air filter was very wet with water. Any ideas?

This is not a good situation. If the starter turns the engine freely, but it does not start, than its not too bad. You'll need tb either let the engine dry on its own, or speed up the process by using a hair dryer on the various components.
If the starter does not turn over the engine, than your engine may be hydrolocked. Meaning it ingested water into the cylinder. Water is not compressible, so you probably bend a rod, or caused some other major engine damage.
Best thing to do is remove the plugs, turn the engine over, so that it will shoot the water out, than dry and replace the plugs.
Try and start it and see what happends.
If all goes well, change your oil, oil filter, and air filter right away.
Good luck.
Phillip
ps: Just for my own curiosity, did you previosly modify the stock air intake system in anyway?

Mechanic said the motor is done. I filed a claim with esurance today as I had total coverage on car. Hood was prior damaged from deer. Mileage was almost 200k. What should I expect for value? I have receipts for work done in past year for around 2500 including new suspension etc. will this factor in?
