I've been looking for a sportscar to replace my '99 es 300 , had a couple I test drove and always walked away. I kept on asking myself why don't you just do it? I kept coming back to the same answer, I still love my car. Enjoy your ES and treat it right because it'll always treat you right.

or....u can get a sportscar and have the lexus as a dd. that's the way im going.
never should've gotten rid of my old lexus but ill be getting her back soon in these next couple of months.
my evo and mustang are fun to drive but i want a dd that is comfortable, reliable, sleek looking, put it in D and go, type of dd and the ES is hard to beat. my maxima just isnt doing it for me anymore and plus its a 5 spd just like the other 2.

i think there is another member here that had the same idea. his toy is a c6 z06 and his dd is a nice white 01 es.

what kind of sportscar were u looking at?

Or the worst both worlds...small and cramped for a sedan, doesn't handle as well as a real sports car, not cushy like an ES. There is something to be said for having a couple cars. I tried to build my WRX into the "do it all" car but at some point you have to make some decisions, i.e. ride vs. handling. You can't have it all.

Really? When I test drove an '05 IS, I found it moderately roomy. Much more roomier than my '03 CTS. Then again, I'm pretty short (5'6). But I'm assuming you sacrifice cabin room with almost any sports on the market, and ride quality also.

I have an alternative idea. Keep the ES and buy a sports car.

Price point wise I found the TL to be the pivot point into both worlds.
Not cushy like an ES but I'm able to feel the road when driving. It's not quite as large as the ES in the passenger area or the trunk but just as fully functional otherwise.

Your responses are great, wish I could afford to have 2 vehicles but I'd rather have the cash in the bank. I was looking at the clk 500 mostly, also the TT audi.

Going to check out a 2000 es3000 with ~150k mileage I might purchase as a second car for dd purposes. Not going to lie, I am pretty worried about the high mileage and won't be seeing the car till after 5 so a ppi is out of the question. Have searched this forum the last few days and feel that the high mileage shouldn't be an issue if the car has been meticulously maintained, but I have a feeling it may not have been...

When I bought my gs300 I originally planned of just buying a summer car like a 1980s mercedes sl, it made complete sense the sl is pretty awful to drive everyday and the ES is literally the perfect daily driver (at least for me) but its hard to have 2 cars 1 of tem being from the 80s and the other having over 220k miles.
