02 lexus es300 knock sensor splice
I have an 02 lexus es300 and i have a code for the bank 2 knock sensor. I have read on some forums about earlier year vehicles just splicing the 2nd knock sensor into the 1st knock sensor. Does anyone have any info on if this will work or how to do it? I cant find a pin diagram for my ecu anywhere to tell which wires are the sensors. Every time i go to drive the car it goes into into limp mode so i would really like to get this taken care of the cheapest way possible. I had both sensors replaced once before. The weird thing is when its cold outside it will sometimes not do it but when it is hotter, it will instantly throw the code. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure if this file will help or not. The knock sensor wires at the ECU are shielded so you should be able to see this.

As an alternative method you could make the piggyback splice at the end of the knock sensor wiring harness which is located under the air filter housing. This eliminates any concern you may have picking the correct wires and is easily reversible if you decide to replace the knock sensor harness. I did this repair and was successful.

Just did this.
2000 Lexus ES 300. Picked it up for $400. 148xxx miles. Had the blade of a key but no microchip. Got one programmed for $350. Replaced variable valve timing solenoids for one code. Runs good now but no overdrive. Highly annoying. Now just p330 code. Was about to either attempt it myself or possibly spend upwards of $1000 to have someone open up the valve cover and do this repair properly. Went to oreilly’s. Bought some splice tabs. Did this hack. In the engine bay and on the old harness. That way if I messed it up, well I’d just have to replace what I already needed to replace. IT WORKED. 100%. Hundreds of miles later no cel and good gas mileage. Thanks for this post. Could not have done it without you. Love my 25 year old Lexus! LLL (Long Live Lexus)
