Hey guys!
Just bought a 1999 Lexus ES about 3 weeks ago. It has 156k miles and I got it for a good price. Needs some work like tune up, new alternator, brakes, tires, and new lcd for radio. It drives good for a car needing some work so I'm pretty excited to get it up and running and as my daily driver.
Once I get her a bath, I can get better pics

New to the club
I am a former Lexus Tech and recently purchased my first Lexus after many years of owning a Toyota. We bought my wife's Camry about 7 years and 100K ago, it currently has 180K on the clock. Its on its second timing belt and water pump but other than that really hasn't needed any major work, unfortunately the body is starting to rust so I tracked down a replacement for her.
The car is a 1999 ES300 with 133K. I bought it with the check engine light and VSC lights on, the strut mounts making all kinds of noise, the radio LCD shot, cracked mirror housing and the interior heavily smoked in... needless to say I got a great deal on it and I am in the process of bringing it back to its former glory. I have already fixed one of the 3 codes it had and am working on fixing the P1135 and P1155 currently. I just picked up a new radio and drivers mirror off of a local guy and will be putting them on soon.
My father had a 2003 IS300 which we both put a ton of miles on, unfortunately it was a company car and when he left the company they kept the car.
I guess the ES is technically my second Lexus. I did have in my possession for just a few hours a SC300, I bought it off a customer with a severe rod knock and sold it to someone who planned on doing a supra motor swap. It made it from the dealership to my parents house. I told the buyer it should be towed, but he decided to give it a go and drove it home.. he made it within 2 blocks of his house and it threw a rod through the block.. he sent me a picture with a can of beer next to the hole in the block.
Any way I am a lover of Lexus and Toyota after being a die hard American car fan growing up. I hope to learn a lot from this site as well as share my knowledge with fellow Lexus owners.

Greetings to all from a new member
Hello to all,
After 6 months of an intense and often aggravating search, I recently became the proud owner of a 2003 ES300, silver with gray interior, 91K miles, and the following options according to Lexus:
-Power Rear Sun Shade
-High Intensity Discharge Headlamps (HID) with Auto Leveling and Rain-Sensing Wipers
-Dual-Stage Heated Front Seats
-Cargo Net
-Wheel Locks
-Wood & Leather Steering Wheel and Shift ****
-Trunk Mat
-Premium Package Includes: Leather Trim Interior with Memory, 6-Disc Single Feed In-Dash CD Auto-Changer
It appears that the first owner enjoyed comfort options. I've attached a picture and I seem to be spending a lot of time finding the right products to maintain it. I've been a reader of this forum for a while and the exchange of ideas and experiences is invaluable to me. I'm in Fort Myers, Florida, newly retired and a car guy who grew up in Detroit in the 50's and 60's appreciating muscle cars and with age and experience I see now why Lexus holds its value far better than Mercedes. I could also be one of the few who appreciates the cassette player as well as the CD changer. I look forward to reading and hopefully contributing to this forum.
Vic

Hello CL
i just bought a 1997 ES300 with 65,000 miles on it.
good news is that the brakes and tires are new and the rest of the suspension and body are in very good condition for it's age, but there are some deferred maintenance items i'm having done.
timing belt, leaking power steering pump, and leaking valve covers all had to be replaced. the radiator, which is showing old age rather than use, is next then i'll have some comfort items installed like tint and stereo (tho i am enjoying some old cassette tapes and cds in the car right now)
i've lurked on the forum quite a bit while searching for a car, and you guys have been a fantastic resource. thanks for being here, and i hope to be able to contribute something back.
