2000 ES300: Gears slipping?
Hello,
I've got a 2000 ES300. Yesterday as I started to drive after shifting to D, it felt like the car briefly slipped in to neutral. That is, the engine revved and the car slowed. After taking my foot off the gas, everything felt/worked fine again.
No further issues.
Today, I tried to shift in to reverse to back the car in to my garage. After hitting the gas, the engine revved and the car simply did not move.
I tried switching to D, and the car could move forward fine. I shifted back to R, and tried again. This time the engine revved for a moment before "thunking" loudly and lurching backwards.
I checked the transmission fluid. It does not smell burned and the level seems to be between the upper notches.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what this could be?
Thank you
