Default Humming 2000 ES300

My 2000 ES300 is emitting a light hum sound when driven at constant speeds ... accelerate or decelerate (coast) and it stops, but returns as speed/rpm is held constant. I can hear it from the driver's side better than from the passengers' - and even better when driving on a quiet back street with windows open. I cannot hear it at highway speed ... probably because road noise masks the light hum. My thought was that it might be a vacuum leak - also, the check engine light is on. I went to a local PEPBOYS who indicated that the VSV needs to be replaced, and a vacuum hose kit installed to replace the old vacuum hoses. Just curious to know whether or not their diagnostic is accurate ... ? Thanks

Replaced vsv and charcoal canister. The humming sound went away. Thanks to Bobby at Tech Auto Maintenance. Pepboys "guess" was wrong and would have cost me an unnecessary $250 without correcting the problem.

Not sure what you meant by that. Either way, thank you for following up with a solution.
