Need urgent help with ES300 2003 143K ( Suspension
I have to replace my suspension due to annoying noise in the real wheel. My mechanic recommended replacing the four suspension and highly recommends the original Lexus suspension. He says that aftermarket parts like KYB could be installed but will cost almost the same hence the whole system should be changed and the car hight will be reduce by 1 inch and will lose the comfort ride of the Lexus. Unfortunately the original part will cost me $2760.00(the 4 suspensions and other parts) without labour cost.
Is my mechanic right?
What is the best suspension, other than the original, that can be installed in my car and will save me money?

The spring is what changes the ride height.
When doing suspension, the springs usually do not get changed unless there is something wrong with them.

I would recommend getting the parts yourself and then bringing them to your mechanic, if he's willing to work with that. There is a lot of markup that mechanics put into parts. Without replacing the springs, all you'll need is the struts and strut mounts.
What you have to keep in mind is that the struts might not be the source of your noise. It obviously won't be a bad idea to replace them at your mileage, if you don't mind doing such expensive preventative maintenance.
To be 100% sure, ask your mechanic to show you the source of the noise. It could be your sway bar.

If the mechanic source the parts and do the work, he is responsible for the part and labor warranty.
If you bring the parts and the mechanic do the work, he is only responsible for warranty on the labor. Meaning, if something goes wrong, you will have to pay the labor twice....

Strut mount is about $50-100 each.
Strut is about $80-100 each.
Strut boot is about $20 each.
Swing bar end link is about $50 each.
Swing bar bushing is about $40 set.
Springs are reusable if not damaged.
Therefore, parts should only be $1000.....

Just be a little careful.

Nope. they call up their supplier which handles the warranty aspect, and you're at their mercy as to when you get the new warrantied part in. That's why i use Rockauto, they just take your word for it and send a new one.
This is far more painless than dealing with any local guys in my experience that always ask for it back etc. and you STILL pay for the labor twice over.
No mechanic offers a 'labor' warranty - the repairs made are at your discretion, they may knock off some 'time' if they have to re-do something.
Not what a customer wants to hear - but **** happens sometimes...
