Default ATF Level Cold vs Hot

I have owned Toyota and Lexus cars since 1974 but I have never seen one do what this ES does. At normal op temp, ATF level is perfect. When cold, say 40 degrees after staying outside all night, ATF barely shows on the bottom of the dipstick - way below where the cold level marks are.

Should I adjust the level at normal op temp or adjust it when cold or try to split the difference? Thanks.

Sounds like it is fine. I would not overfill.

You should be checking ATF when hot.

Also, how are you checking the fluid? Is the engine running, with the transmission in Park?

Yep, the standard drill. Cycle through all of the gears and check with car in Park and engine running.

Yes, my first post says the level is right at normal operating temperature.
