Replacement key question
I'm trying to get a repalcement key for my '02 ES cut. The ebay key that I bought is slightly longer than the original one. Is that going to be a problem?

I did the same thing, won't work. You are better off getting a key from The dealer. I know, you pay up the butt for it. My dealer charges $95 for a key, just the blade and case and cutting the key. They won't cut a key from e-bay any anyone else. They say it gums up there machine. I have heard of some people getting keys cut by people other then the dealer, car won't start and keys stuck in the ignition. Check your area and see if anyone will cut a key for you and the best place to buy one. I just use my key with no buttons, keep the remote one at home and take one to work. Case is all cracked up, but still works. Good luck, hope this helps.

I think I have found a solution. http://lexus.sewellparts.com/accesso...2002/4644.html
I specifically emailed them about the length of my blank. They said that a longer one will work, but a shorter than OEM one will not. So, I'm about to send mine off and I'll report back.

And Sewell has a good reputation and will gut a generic key. Two cautionary notes though: 1) I noticed that shpping is an additional charge which makes one key cut roughly around $40; if you need two, order them at one time and 2) for some bizarro reason, the club lexis price is slightly higher than the non-club price.
