Default HELP With Air/Fuel Ratio sensor!

1997 Lexus Es300 California emissions

I just bought a new Denso A/F sensor, part #234-9009

The connector harness doesn't fit onto my car. Do I have the right sensor?

I'm assuming i'd fit camrys; considering i accidently ripped off my
connector harness to the a/f sensor, could i just simply grab a harness
out of a camry and crimp it to my lexus?

Couple of questions before I give you an answer:

1. How did you find out that your car is CA Emissions?
2. Why are you replacing the sensor?
3. Which sensor is it?
4. Have you removed the old one yet?

1) Cali Emissions sticker, Fifth digit 'F', and Lexus confirmed it.

2) I replaced the sensor a year ago with a bosch 02 sensor, recently
found out that i had the wrong 02 sensor in the whole time. about 6 months ago,
one of the heater wires rotted off the connector harness from the engine harness.
ended up splicing the wire and didn't get a p0135 until 6 months later (Very odd i didn't get it sooner). not only am i going
to replace the connector harness, but with the correct sensor too.

3) Bank 1, Sensor 1. Upstream, Near the firewall.

4) I don't have the original sensor, still have the bosch in.

ironically, i've driven for almost a year with the wrong 02 sensor, and it never
set a CEL, until the wire rotted off the connector.

I appreciate your replay, thank you

From what you have said, you have the right sensor. I just replaced one of mine with the same part (234-9009). I had a very similar issue but on the other bank. The previous owner installed the wrong part, which kept triggering a CEL. He, or his mechanic, used a Denso sensor that was made for cars without CA Emissions - regular O2 sensor.

If you never touched B2S1, I would recommend to take it out for a visual comparison. This way you will be 100% sure that the original equipment looks just like your Denso sensor. That's how I figured out what was wrong on my car. Both banks use the same sensors, and you can check the connector on the radiator side.

I wish you the best of luck with your harness repair. I spent 3-4 hours removing the B1S1 sensor. About 90% of that time was spent on figuring out how I could unclip the connector. Ended up laying on the engine with my chest on the intake plenum. I unbolted the connector from the power steering line, which gave me more slack in the wire to get both of my hands on it from the bottom. So I can only imagine what you will need to do.

I confirmed the part# with multiple sources and they're all
stating that this sensor will fit my car, but it clearly doesn't fit
lol. Bank 1 and Bank 2 a/f sensors both are identical, besides the connector.
I just got back from the junkyard today and found a connector harness in
a '98 Camry that fits the new a/f sensor.
My plan is to crimp on the new harness and heat shrink the connections
and see how this works out.
Actually, considering me being a small person, i have no trouble reaching B1S1
from the top of the motor. I'll let the car run for a good 10 minutes and that sensor comes
off like butter.

I'm going on a 1,000 mile trip next week. I'll keep you guys posted on how everything
works out.

Thanks for the help again.
