Default No power to the radio

Our 96ES300 has no power to it, everything else works fine but the radio, it also doesn't have backlight, totally dead. I checked fuses and they seem to be all good.

Have you checked the connector that plugs into the back of the radio to verify that the radio really isn't getting power?

But first, have you checked all three fuses for the radio? One under the dash (#8) and two (#23, #32) in the engine compartment.

Open the hood and check the fuse boxes. It should have labels.

They are labeled but there's no numbers such as 23, 32, etc.

Don't quote me on this, but I know some OEM head units have a main fuse (cylinder type) in them, and maybe this was blown somehow, again I'm not sure if there is on on our h/u's (sad I can't remember b/c I've taken mine out and replaced the LCD last summer) but just throwing that out there as a possibility

Look in your owners manual for the fuse numbers. Is you don't have an owners manual, look at it on https://secure.drivers.lexus.com/lexusdrivers/home

You don't have to register to view owners manuals online.

I have never heard of a radio having "a main fuse (cylinder type) in them".

There are no #23 and #32 fuses in engine compartment. I've checked repair manual/service manual.

check and see if there is power going in/out of the stock amp. Not sure if the 96 ES is wired like the 97-01, but usually the main power goes to the amp first and then to the head unit. so if your amp is dead, then there will be no power going to the head unit. good luck.

Here is a diagram from your owners manual with arrows that point at these two fuses in your engine compartment fuse box.

Thanks. I've checked all the fuses and they're good.
