im thinking since its just the bottom half of the pcv valve, and only the plastic outside casing that i coudl probably just start my car and the pieces would melt into the oil and be filtered once it gets to the oil filter. any thoughts? plz i really need a second or third opinon

Those pieces will definitely not "melt" into the oil. The only way to make sure you remove all the pieces of rubber is to remove the valve cover. If you start the engine you can't predict where the debris is going to end up.

well its not the rubber grommet, its the plastic bottom half casing of the pcv. i got all the little internal metal and plastic bits on the inside of the pcv. i also got most of the pieces out my stickin a straw ionto the hole in the valve cover and suckin, needess to say i gotta a lotta plastic n oil in my mouth. so basically now theres about an 1/16 of an inch left of plastic almost nothing, jus particles. also i noticed that i can easily break the plastic of the pcv i got out wit my fingers into lilttle bits. i think im jus gonna start my car and see what happens

Please don't use seafoam. You should be fine with the little amount of plastic still left inside. There is a little pan attached to the valve cover, so that PCV hole does not go directly into the head of the engine. Hopefully that pan will hold the pieces in place and maybe even melt them. I can't guarantee that the plastic won't cause any damage, but it's your car, not mine.

why is seafoam so bad? ive read different places, seems ppl have different opinions. my engine must have a lot of sludge and buildup at 184k. the opening to the engine oil fill is dirty as hell

seafoam is great, i seafoam at least twice a year. i made $4000 seafoaming other people's cars during my last year of university. never ran into problems and the best results were on some high end cars with large displacement.

of course, if you want to get rid of the debris, just pop off the valve cover and dump it out and change ur valve cover gasket at the same time.

SHOP VAC....learn it know it. If it is laying on top of something you can get it by shop vac-ing it into the tube....anything that is not locked down should be pulled out anyway....then getting into the shop vac is easy.....just a thought....
