I use 93 Shell V-Power gas only.

Going to get new air filter today. Will report back with results.

Yeah this kinda gas mileage isnt really good. But quick question I have no idea where the MAF sensor is and I never usually touch anything under the hood (besides oil and windshield fluid) since I don't wanna mess anything up. Can I change the MAF myself or should I just take to Valvoline or somewhere else to get it cleaned?

Candidly, I would take your car to Lexus and simply have them run diagnostics. They can find the issue quickly and not create more of a mess in the process.

clean the MAF sensor, clean the throttle body, replace the air filter, use a fuel additive to clean out the fuel injectors.
all can help increase your MPG by allowing the car to breathe cleanly and flow fuel efficiently.

They'll probably charge $120 to run diagnostics.

I used the STP complete fuel cleaner stuff on my last tank fillup so maybe it'll help.

Also I just changed the engine air filter (which was incredibly dirty) so I'm hoping for an improvement, if not I'll get the Mass AirFlow Sensor cleaned or, if need be replaced.

I don't really touch anything under the hood due to the fear of messing something up so should I go somewhere to get all that cleaned?
My ES has 121K miles since I drive 60 miles everyday ( Monday- Friday ) on the highway.

Make sure you are cleaning the MAF sensor... When you take out the sensor, the long needle inside with a hard wax on top is the Intake Air Temperature Sensor, not the MAF. If you just clean that, your MAF is still dirty. The MAF sensor has 2 wires inside the hole. Look carefully inside and clean them good.

I had my 04 ES fuel system clean using the the BG system. Big difference. Better throttle response, mileage.
Lexus dealer did it, same price as my local shop. Getting about 25-26 mpg, driving 55-60. Driving to work and back, not highway, that's 3-4 mile stretch between lights. About 28 miles round trip.

How exactly do I clean the MAF? Also is it safe for me to do it myself, meaning I don't want to mess anything up and illuminate the Check Engine Light. Thanks again

Btw half tank and range says "96 Miles". I hate this....

how we drive is also very impt. to gas mileage. i coast often when a red light is 1/4 mile ahead and accelerate slowly. the lexus is so smooth to me and I don't feel the funny shift in the tranny often because I like to accelerate slowly. no way would I use autozone MAF.
this is a bigger sedan, AND 23-24MPG is pretty good on our 05 that my wife drives about 300-350 miles per wk.
