My 2001 ES has two red dash warning lights that come on and off very "infrequently" (to define "infrequently", it's about 10 times in 30 miles of driving with on-time of 1 to 30 seconds) in the last three+ years I owned it.

The two are seat-belt and BRAKE lights.

I am pretty certain that the seat-belt light is a mechanically related pressure on the latch that because I can push or pull on the belt latch continuously and the light never comes on. It happens all year-round but more significantly during winter times.

The BRAKE light never blinks during summer but only in the cold temperature. I made sure the brake fluid is full and made sure everything is ok but it still comes on "infrequently". A year ago, whenever the BRAKE came on, slamming on the brake made it go off but now (probably because the brake fluid is topped off) this method has nothing to do with turning off the false BRAKE light. The parking brake pedal on/off position is not source of the BRAKE warning lamp problem either.

Has any owner of ES had this type of dash warning lamp problems on their ES? Does anyone have any suggestion on how to get rid of this intermittent problem?

ps. I can wedge something into the latch mechanism to simulate as if the you are trying to pull the seatbelt out of the latch and this is just enough pulling pressure to make sure the seat-belt warning light does not come on falsely.
