Changed the brake fluid, power steering fluid, and oil with valvoline maxlife synthetic and mobile 1 filter on the es330 and gs300. Also got both washed in and out and had a tire rotation done on the ES. Nothing like a long weekend to get stuff done

Replaced original rear Lexus Struts with complete Monroe strut assemblies on a 2005 ES330. It was a complete remove and replace. Everything is new, including springs. Awesome ride so far. Only $119.00 each side from RockAuto.com. Who needs to compress springs at that price? The dealership wanted to charge me 1000 bucks to REBUILD the strut assembly using the old springs. That was insane to even think about.
I also installed a new cabin filter, and engine air filter. I rotated tires, and now it needs an alignment all the way around. It is a strong car with 120,000 miles. The timing belt, water pump, tensioner and tensioner bearings, coolant, radiator cap, upper dogbone engine mount, battery, and wiper blades were all done 2 weeks ago.

This car is now ready to go a good long time before it needs any more attention. I love Lexus vehicles.

She's lowered on Teins about a few weeks ago. The outside pic is before lowering, then in my job's shop. Employment at a local Lexus dealer is great too

5+ years of ownership and still no build thread. Need to gather all my pics to start one.

Damn that shop looks so much better than the Toyota/Subaru shop I work at. Everything is so organized and clean, and surprisingly white.

Also clean ES

Got me some souvenirs today from Japan. These cup holders are magical, unlike the ones in our car. Although blue really isn't my color, it nicely compliments my black interior with an accent of blue.

Also, I had the time to work on my side project. Removed the amber capsules from the 00-01 tails.

Does ANYONE happen to know how to remove the housing/assembly on the mid section of our 00-01 tail lights (tried baking, but having a very difficult time)?

EDIT: Apologies for the tiny photos. They were taken on my iPhone.

I used a combo of an oven & heat gun, because the 13-14 year old silicone was a real pain in the a** to remove. Key is to be patient and taking your time. The bigger struggle is the mid part of the tail lights. I'm having a difficult time removing those.

2002 MY:

a) Broke down and sanded the headlights then polished w/the Mother's kit "power ball." Wow, what an improvement in appearance and performance.

b) Replaced sway bar bushings front and rear. Did not need it, a waste of time.

c) Replaced worn rear suspension. KYB Excel-G struts and Moog cc273 coil springs. Nice, firm, capable, body roll gone and sag when loaded gone. The Moog parts are spec'd for the Avalon and Camry but not ES; they fit perfectly of course. No change in ride height - identical to stock. At almost $200 per pair less than Lexus, I'm a fan.

Doing front struts next week but retaining front coils I think.

Did you loose the "Lexus glide" smooth ride?

I really can't say; I got the car used and the shocks were already worn, so I don't know the original feel intimately. I am working on a detailed a post about it and my impressions, part #'s, etc - I will post next week after I get the fronts in and can compare all around (if the front struts arrive by Friday; not sure yet - they are ordered).

I did notice after 50 miles or so, the springs seem to be settling a bit and the ride smoothed quite a lot. I like it and have NO complaints. I have an Audi V8 with H&R springs and Boge Turbo Gas. I find this MUCH smoother and supple than that.
