CV joint? Is it super nasty sticky and very hard to get off of your hands?

Yes, this does need to be addresses sooner than later. I'm betting your outer boot ripped and now is throwing grease all over the place. You probably have a week before the grease is gone and then another week or five before you mess up your drive shaft.

Repair is pretty straight forward - yet time consuming. I'd say 2-3hrs labor as you have to remove a TON of junk before you get at the drive shaft and have the ability to replace the boot.

Is it oil or grease? If it's grease it could be coming from behind one of the boots on you CV joint. You should not have grease coming from your CV joint. If so, one of your boots is damaged and should be replace. Once grime gets in the CV joint they don't last very long.
