Default Squealing!!

Ok, I've noticed this problem a couple months ago; Start car [2ES], there is a squealing sound, if I turn the steering wheel in either direction the squeal becomes much more pronounced (until put back to it's original resting place) and about 3 to 5 minutes later it's gone. I checked the Power Steering Fluid reservoir and discovered it was empty and refilled accordingly. Since then I've refilled about three times, but the last two times the reservoir was at the "Low" mark.

Last night I started the car and the same issue returned, about 5 minutes later the squeal is gone, checked the reservoir when I got home (after smelling a burnt rubber odor and seeing light fumes from under the hood) and the PSF level was above the "Low" mark. [Haven't started the car yet today to see what I encounter next]

Any idea what else could be the issue and how I can resolve this??

Check for belt tightness.
Check for PS fluid leak.

Thanks guys. I'm sure there is fluid leak--no way I should have to be refilling every two weeks to a month. Thanks for the link also. But the squeaking is audible when the car is sitting idle. If I refill the reservoir to "Max" mark and restart the car, no more squeak/squeal...nothing but a smooth sounding engine.

Will try the method recommended and will have to let the mech-man locate and plug the leak.

i don't think that link answers your prob: you have a leak in one of the hoses or the rack. I would run my hand over the high pressure hose and try to feal a wet spot or see where the drip is and look up. the res. could be leaking. get some dye and a black light if can't find it. putting the dye in the res and looking in the dark with black light will tell you if it is the rack. pumps sing when they are low on fluid
