How difficult is replacement of Expansion Valve?
Have a friend who's A/C was diagnosed as a bad expansion valve...I've done one on my current 87 Mercedes 300E, but wondering if its an easy DIY on this car?
Any info or factory manual information for this?
I'll have an A/C shop evacuate the r134a, I'll take it home, replace the valve, then give it back for them to again evacuate and charge accordingly.
I have my own A/C manifold gauges too, and understand the basics of A/C when I replaced my evaporator + expansion valve about a year ago on my benz.
Thanks

Which car?
Doing this involves significant dismantling of the interior. You will have to remove many trim pieces, glove box, probably CD changer, amplifier, ECU, blower unit etc. to get to the condenser. The expansion valve is at the top of the evaporator firewall side. Here's a diagram to give you an idea of the layout (1997 ES shown).
