Default engine problems? lexus es 300 96'

Hi I was wondering if some of you guys can help me. Okay so my motor won't turn on. When I turn the keys the engine does not ignite... instead I get a rapid clicking noise. Everything works as far as electricity and such, but the motor is not. There is also a half a tank of gas in the car as well. Thanks.
The car is a lexus es 300 96' by the way.

Sounds like the starter needs to be changed.

If all you get are clicks when you try to start the car, than check in the following likely order.

a) Weak battery.
b) Loose/Corroded Battery Cable
c) Loose/Corroded Starter Cable.
d) Defective Starter (Least Likely)

Phil

Use a multi meter to check the charge of the battery. Full charge is 12.7v.

When a battery is weak, you will hear the rapid clicks because the starter is trying to engage but doesn't have enough power to.

I bet it is just a dead battery.

Doesn't sound like an engine problem. Try jumping it first, I bet it's just a weak battery..

This happened to be before, my battery was weak.. But after I got a new one (OEM) it was all good. But, maybe you should just get a recharge and that should do it.

Default Dead or Weak Battery

Yep, the same happened to me last month in my ES300. New battery and it started right up.
