Just got off the phone with the dealer and they're telling me $1300 for an ECM. I found a good site with good reviews that will sell me a re-manufactured (which is what the dealer uses anyway) for $460. If I'm not correct, the ECM is behind the glove box in the car, so I may just replace it myself. There's no way in hell I'm giving Lexus $1300 for this.

There's no such thing as a remanufactured ECM, just a used one. They may be tested to work, but they are just used units. Unless it's from Toyota, then yes it may be remanufactured.

But why would you spend that kind of money? Just hit your local Pick N Pull and get one for $30. Or use Ebay, or car-part.com there is absolutely no reason to be ripped off.

The ECM is in today. Me and a mechanic (who works on my other car) and I are going to tackle replacing the ignition coil and throwing the ECM back in tonight. Hopefully everything goes well. I will update this thread with the results.

Your check engine light should be on, or at least there would be trouble codes stored in memory.

You must retrieve those codes to get a starting point as to where to look. Otherwise its just pure guess work, resulting in waste of time and money.

Thanks I checked the codes and it says knock sensors
I changed them and everything is working good.
Cost me with the sensors 160$ I find them on eBay 32$ both.

You are not out of the woods yet. Those cheap aftermarket sensors are known not to be fully compatible.

So if the problem returns, it's better to get the original knock sensors, or at least OEM ones. It's also worth changing the wiring harness for those sensors. They are known to go bad.

You may however be lucky ang get away with it this time.

I changed the wiring harness with the sensors the mechanic had it. I hope they will work long...

Smart move about changing the harness.

If all is well in about 1 week or so, or about 500 miles, than you're out of the woods at a great price
