where is the cabin air filter loaction on 1997 es300

No idea on the older ones but the cabin filter on my 00 ES300 is located to the right of the gas pedal in a white compartment. To get easier access you will have to pull some of the carpet down out of the way and undo one wire harness. Unlatch the door and pull out the first filter. Then you will see an additional tab. This one pull it down then out. Again, this is for my 00 ES300 so it may be different on the older ones.

I have a 2001, so mine may be in a different place than yours, but if you look at your owner's manual (if you have one) then it shows you the location, and also how to change them.
If you don't have an owner's manual, than a search here on cabin air filters will do it.
