Got to change knock sensors on 2000 ES
Can someone please tell me the step by step process for changing the knock sensors. I want to tackle this project myself. Parts have been ordered. 2 knock sensors (for bank 1&2) 1 Harness connector and gaskets for the intakes. and what tools are necessary. This car is as loyal as loyal gets. Need to keep this loyal friend on the road. Please help.

If your ES has the same engine as my brothers 2001 ES, The motor is identicial to my 1999 RX300. I have already changed my knock sensors. Go to the RX 300 forum, someone just got done posting pictures for changing knock sensors. Make sure you get another coolant bypass hose to change while your in there.
-Good luck!

Finally some love, thanks Barryst for that info. I do believe that 99 thru 01 (the last year for that generation) is the same car, for the ES. I'll check the Rx 300 fourm right away. once again thanks. And to james, I scaned my ES with a pocket scan when the check engine and trac off light came on. the code came up as 0325 which suppose to be a knock sensor issue in one of the banks. as i reserched this issue. the classic symptoms were: 1 car did not want to go into overdrive even though overdrive was on. 2 after erasing the code with the scanner, the check engine light w/trac off comes back after doing steady highway driving above 65miles per hour. doesn't come back as quick in city or in town driving. i really want to roll up the sleeves and do the job myself. i would be gratefull to any tips that can be given to me. i would post pics of the job and be as detailed as possible. once again thanks for taking time to read this thread. stay tuned.

You might want to change those spark plugs, if you haven't done them recently.-
I also performed a coolant change as well with the toyota pink premix stuff. Make sure you have the correct knock sensors. I think there are 2 different styles. Your ES will probably be a little easier to do than the RX. We have the wiper assembly hanging over our engine. Use the link only as a guide, its probably not going to be 100 percent the same as yours.
The job itself isn't too bad, as you will discover.
Keep track of all your parts!
Again,
Good luck!
