Exclamation power steering pulley falls off..

Why would this happen? After putting gas today I was driving off when I heard a strange noise and my steering wheel got real stiff. I guy that was walking by told me "Hey this just fell out of your car" and he hands me the pulley. Somehow the nut on the shaft came loose and the thing popped off. Has anybody ever heard of this happening? Ironically I was going to go look at a 99 es that is for sale. Is my car mad at me?

Your car is mad because someone didn't torque the nut to the pulley properly. It has to be pretty tight. Check the torque specs in your FSM.
