Reliability, looks, and Performance. Best bang for the buck for me at the time. Of the few reliable v6 4 doors, the ES MPG topped them all as well. Average was 28-30mpg highway for me which to me is Great. Spent more money modding then maintenance and repairing. Next daily driver will be a LS

The reason i am driving this Lexus is due to my Supercharged Buick Regal GS transmission died. It would have cost $1,800 to have rebuilt, car also had a few other issues.

Was looking at cars for under $2k a friend told me her mom had a 95' Lexus es300 for sale. Got the Car for $1,400 with 125k on the clock. So far i love driving the car. Only thing i really miss from the Buick is its speed, but it also had over 100hp more then the ES

I was aiming for IS300 or GS300 for a more sporty luxury sedan but end up getting a ES. now why a Lexus? well knowing Lexus is Toyota they are reliable and Lexus, a prestige name gets the ladies. so get the ladies and reliable? killed two birds with one stone doesn't matter if you drive a new 2010 Ford Taurus. what would sound better to get the girls? "I drive a Ford...well I drive a Lexus" lol.

I had a 2007 Acura TL-S and replaced it with a 00 ES300 Platinum. Only reason I did was to save a little more money since I had an 06 Z06 vette as well. I was told the older ES's were super reliable and good cruising cars. So far they were right I really enjoy driving the car.
To sum it up the ES300 is a lot of car for the money.

The ES is a great car as everyone has expressed. Decent gas mileage, reliability, dependability, etc. I drove my 1996 ES 300 to over 400,000 miles but then got rear ended two weeks ago. Now I'll be searching for another Lexus. My next Lexus might be another ES or maybe a GS...

Never received more compliments about any other car I've owned. That about sums it up.

Or to put it another way, I've received more compliments about the ES than all my previous cars combined.

We got the ES because it was cheap, reliable, and easy for the girlfriend to drive. She said she didnt like driving the other cars EVERYDAY because of their power. She wanted something easy to drive, and kinda boring (not saying the ES is real boring, just kinda).

I drive a Lexus because they are the smoothest riding, most dependable vehicle I have ever owned. And because I have been kicking myself in the butt ever since i got rid of my first Lexus.

I owned a 1999 LS400 (Black on Black with Nav) in 2002, and sold it soon after to buy something more sporty (Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4). I am now married, with a family and can't afford a newer LS right now so I picked up a 1997 ES300 with 111,300 pampered miles last Saturday. I am the second owner and have every single receipt from the two Lexus dealerships that it was maintained at since new (Germain Lexus of Naples, and Superior Lexus of Kansas City). It received every single dealer recommended service (money was obviously no issue) and it never saw snow as the owner was a snowbird
I laughed when I test drove it as it was the second Lexus I had driven, and it was the second Lexus that I would own.

I have owned a Lincoln Town Car, Cadillac Eldorado, Cadillac Deville, and Acura Legend and nothing (I mean NOTHING) compares to the ride of a Lexus. Wife now wants to trade in her 2004 Expedition EB on a 2006-2008 RX330 (can't wait). Looks like my fam might be a Lexus family from now on

I got my 1998 Lexus ES300 from my sister, she was the sole owner and bought it new in 98 and had it serviced thru Lexus. The vehicle had never been in an accident and never had people in the back seat except for my kids. I bought it from her since the previous car I had was a two door Nissan Sentra and was bought new in 91, much older than the 98 Lexus. It was time for me to upgrade and my sister had always said Lexus was the way to go and my mom ended up buying a new 2006 GS300 and my sister was now buying a 2009 LX470, so the natural thing was to buy her ES from her. It is the best car I've ridden in, smooth and clean. Of course she kept it vigin stock and I being a guy had to molest it and lower the car. Still rides good and enjoy driving it everyday.

Reliable, comfortable, and looks great for its age!

Next car (depending on how much $ I'll be making) Will either be a used LS460, or S550

But I will always be driving a luxury line car. (im hooked!)

Reliable -- cheap to do maintenace compare to MB and BMW. Less time in garage.

Well I wouldnt go that far. I have a 97 BMW 328i as a beater, and that BMW is every bit as cheap to do maintenace to as our Lexus, any maybe a little easyer to work on myself. And my ///M Coupe has had near zero problems since I bought her a couple years back. BMW is a great car.

But the MBenz on the other hand, I hate having to take the AMG into the shop, never quite know how much money your going to end up forking out. I had to take the E55 in to get the suspention looked at/fixed, ended up having to pay a $2,100 bill
